Ryoshi

The blade for this Tanto is made from canister Damascus containing 52100 ball bearings, 4600 KC powder, 1095 powder and pure nickle sheets. The blade length is 226mm with the overall length of the knife at 355mm. When the knife and the Saya are together the combined length is 370mm. The Habaki is made from copper and the surface has been filed and etched. The Seppa is nickle silver and has a coined edge and the Fuchi and Kashira are also made from copper and have been etched to give an aged appearance. The Tsuka is made from Elmwood which has been inlaid with grey Samigawa and wrapped with a grey/green silk Ito. There are are two Kongosho Menuki, one eitherside of the handle woven under the silk Ito. The Saya is made from Elmwood which has been sprayed to look like aged iron and then has had several layers of a crystal clear lacquer applied over the surface. The Koiguchi and the Kurigata are made from black Richlite and the Saya is finished off with a red/black silk Sageo. The whole piece comes with and is displayed on its own stand made from Albizia/ Persian silk wood.
